Central Indiana NECA Driving Leadership Development at Latest Future Leaders Event

Central Indiana NECA hosted its Q3 Future Leaders event on June 23 at K1 Speed in Fishers, where up-and coming-leaders from NECA members gathered for an evening of networking, professional development and friendly competition. This event was the latest installment of the program's mission of connecting and developing the next generation of leaders in the electrical construction industry.
The event began with an engaging presentation from Julia Saltsgaver, Executive Director of Quality Connection, who provided attendees with valuable insight into the organization's role in supporting the partnership between NECA contractors and IBEW electricians throughout Central Indiana and engaged in thoughtful discussion with the group.
Saltsgaver shared an overview of the many initiatives Quality Connection administers on behalf of the industry, including its drug testing program. Attendees learned about the effectiveness of the program, challenges the organization continues to navigate and opportunities for future improvements that can further strengthen workforce readiness and safety across the industry.
In addition to workforce initiatives, Saltsgaver discussed her role in economic development, public policy and industry advocacy throughout the region. Through her work with local leaders, economic development organizations, boards and commissions, she helps ensure that the interests of NECA contractors and IBEW electricians are represented as new projects are planned and built. Her efforts help position the electrical construction industry as a key stakeholder in the continued growth of Central Indiana.
Saltsgaver also provided a high-level overview of the industries driving development across the region, including life sciences, pharmaceutical manufacturing, data centers, healthcare and other major market sectors. The discussion highlighted the significant growth occurring throughout Central Indiana and the opportunities that growth presents for contractors and electricians alike. Attendees gained valuable insight into upcoming projects and what they could mean for the future outlook of work in the region through 2030 and beyond.
Following the presentation, attendees enjoyed food, drinks and conversation before taking to the track at K1 Speed. The evening's racing competition included practice sessions, qualifying laps and a final race that brought out plenty of friendly competition among the group. More importantly, it provided an opportunity for participants to build relationships, exchange ideas and strengthen professional networks in a relaxed environment outside of the office and jobsite.
Events like the Future Leaders program continue to demonstrate the value of bringing people together from across our industry. By creating opportunities for networking, education and collaboration, Central Indiana NECA helps foster connections that strengthen our member companies, develop future industry leaders and support the continued growth of the electrical construction industry throughout Central Indiana.
Thank you to Julia Saltsgaver for taking the time to share her knowledge and expertise with our Future Leaders. We appreciate her ongoing commitment to advocating for our industry and helping position our contractors and electricians for continued success.
